Mercer Island is located in the southern portion of Lake Washington. Bellevue, Renton and Newcastle are to its east, while Seattle is to its west.  Per the U.S. Census Bureau, the population was estimated to be 25,894 in 2019 and is the second wealthiest zip code in the state of Washington with at least 500 people and a reasonable margin of error.

Location, location is everything and Mercer Island is no exception. Close-in convenience is expensive. According to the latest NWMLS statistics, the median price of a closed home in July, 2021 was $1,915,000 – up from year over year July, 2020 value of $1,630,000, or a whopping 17.48%!

Mercer Island’s close-in proximity to both Seattle and the rest of the Eastside and beyond, as well as easy access to all major freeways and airports makes living here highly desirable. Interstate 90 connects Mercer Island to the mainland and Interstates 5 and 405 with 2 floating bridges. Currently the East Link extension is being constructed from Seattle, over the I-90 bridge, through Mercer Island, extending through Bellevue to Redmond.

Parks and recreation are quite plentiful here with many amazing views as an added bonus. A variety of public facilities available are baseball diamonds, batting cages, BBQ’s, football and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, picnic shelters and reserve picnic areas. The Mercer Island Skate Park is located at Mercerwood Park. There is also a boat launch, public beaches and many trails. Mercer Island offers two off leash dog parks, one at Luther Burbank on the north end and the other at Wildwood Park on the south end.
