Newcastle is located on the southeastern side of Lake Washington, and is a newer city, having been incorporated in 1994. It is a relatively small suburban city with a population of 12,292 per the U.S. Census Bureau 2019 statistics.
Beautiful views of Lake Washington, downtown Seattle and Bellevue as well as the Olympics are plentiful here, as much of the terrain is hilly. Many properties have been built to take advantage of this, including the Golf Club at Newcastle. It is worth a trip to the 19th hole just to take in the panoramic views.
Outdoor recreation abounds here including extensive walking trails – both in-city and collaborative efforts with adjacent communities and lands. Lake Boron Park offers sport courts, playground, sheltered picnic areas, fishing dock and trails to stroll. It’s also a short trip to Newcastle Beach Park on Lake Washington. Although technically part of Bellevue, it is close by and offers plenty of picnic space, playgrounds, a 300-foot dock, and swimming with a lifeguard on duty. noon-7 pm daily.
One of the advantages of living in Newcastle is being a close-in bedroom community to both Bellevue and Seattle, therefore making it a much quicker commute. Interstate 90 is easily accessed via the 405 or Lakemont Blvd SE if you are heading east.
